Building Your First Touring Strategy
How do I Plan a Successful Tour as a New Country Artist?
Touring is expensive and logistically complex. But touring is also where you build real fan relationships and where most artists make actual income. Planning successfully means understanding costs, booking strategically, and managing logistics professionally.
Start Small and Build
Don’t book a 50-city national tour as your first tour. Start regionally: 5-10 shows in a geographic area. This lets you refine your live show, build relationships with local venues and media, and grow an audience before expanding. Successful artists build touring gradually, not overnight.
Venue Selection
Your first venues shouldn’t be arenas. Coffee shops, small bars, music venues, festivals—these are your starting points. These venues take risks on unknown artists. Build credibility playing these venues. As you grow, you graduate to larger venues. Learn booking strategy at Farm.FM’s touring resources.
