Building Your Electronic Press Kit for Promotion
How do I Create a Press Kit or EPK?
A press kit or EPK is your professional introduction. It contains everything journalists, bookers, and potential collaborators need to know about you quickly. A good press kit makes people’s jobs easier. Easy jobs get done. Difficult jobs get ignored.
Core Press Kit Elements
Include: a professional bio (100-250 words), high-resolution photos (at least 3, professional quality), music samples or links to streaming, social media handles and contact information, press mentions if you have them, and upcoming show dates. Your bio should answer: who are you, what kind of music do you make, what makes you unique, what have you accomplished recently. Make it compelling but honest.
Visual Quality Matters
Professional photos are essential. Not iPhone selfies. Actual photos taken by someone with photography experience. High resolution (at least 300dpi) because publications will print them. Access Farm.FM’s EPK templates to distribute your press kit digitally.
Auf Wiedersehen, amigos.
